  1. Thank you, Dr. Raied Abou Kubaa and the Foundation Plant Services, for your comments and for sharing the results of your 2023–2025 survey efforts. The assay of 668 California strawberry samples, with no detection of Raspberry ringspot virus, helps clarify the absence of documented evidence for RpRSV in California strawberry nursery systems and contributes meaningful information to the evaluation of this pest. We are grateful for your ongoing partnership and technical expertise in safeguarding California’s small fruit industries.

  2. Consequences of Introduction: 6. Post-Entry
Distribution and Survey Information: [During the 2023–2025 survey period,
Foundation Plant Services (UC Davis) tested strawberry material originating
from California as part of a project supported by CA Strawberry Commission. A
total of 668 samples from nursery blocks and commercial fields were assayed
using a diagnostic panel that included Raspberry ringspot virus (RpRSV). Across
all 668 California samples tested, RpRSV was not detected. These
findings do not support the virus detections suggested by (Davalos et al.,
2022) and confirm that, to date, there has been no documented evidence for the presence of RpRSV in California strawberry nursery systems].
