AFRPS Assessment and Face-to-Face Meeting

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Office of Regulatory Affairs (ORA), Audit Staff conducted an assessment of the Animal Food Regulatory Program Standards (AFRPS) with the Commercial Feed Regulatory Program (CFRP) on February 1-2, 2024. This was CFRP’s fourth assessment conducted by FDA in support of the AFRPS cooperative agreement and the first assessment to evaluate the CFRP’s implementation of the updated 2023 standards. Audit Staff determined that CFRP maintained full implementation of all 11 standards with no corrections needed.

On March 19-21, 2024, Samantha Moran-Defty, Senior Environmental Scientist Specialist, and Erika Lewis-Ortega, Research Data Specialist II, attended the annual AFRPS Face-to-Face Meeting in Mobile, Alabama, as required per the terms of CFRP’s cooperative agreement with FDA. Moran-Defty and Lewis-Ortega participated a panel discussion on the various ways CFRP has utilized FDA funding to incorporate federal preventive controls (PC) requirements into routine state activities. Moran-Defty and Lewis-Ortega also accepted an award on behalf of the Department in recognition of CFRP’s successful implementation of the 2023 AFRPS. CFRP thanks FDA for the opportunity to attend this meeting and collaborate with other AFRPS states.
