Congratulations to Jenna Leal on her appointment as the new Environmental Program Manager II (Branch Chief) of the Feed, Fertilizer, and Livestock Drugs Regulatory Services (FFLDRS) Branch.
Leal has served as the Environmental Program Manager I of the Commercial Feed, Livestock Drugs, Safe Animal Feed Education, and Antimicrobial Use and Stewardship Programs in FFLDRS since 2018. Prior to that role, Leal led the Commercial Feed Program in various capacities, including serving as a program supervisor, and specialist, as the program evolved and expanded its legislative authority over the years. Leal joined CDFA in 2006 as a FFLDRS field inspector in the Central Valley and worked with both the feed and fertilizer industries in one of California’s most productive agriculture regions.
Jenna graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Dairy Science and Agriculture Business from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. Leal was a member of the World Champion Intercollegiate Dairy Cattle Judging Team and served as an active member of the Future Farmers of America (FFA) prior to college.
Leal’s leadership and management of several multi-disciplinary, sensitive, and complex programs within the Division of Inspection Services has offered her experience in executing high-impact regulatory strategies, including focus on policy and emerging issues, science-based decision making, streamlining program efficiencies, and maintaining open communication and collaboration with CDFA leadership, local, state, and federal partners.
Jenna is most proud of building and maintaining strong, motivated, and effective teams and shares a true passion for agriculture and the work of CDFA.
Congratulations to Rachelle Kennedy on her appointment as the new Environmental Program Manager I of the Commercial Feed, Livestock Drugs, Safe Animal Feed Education (SAFE), and Antimicrobial Use and Stewardship (AUS) Programs.
Kennedy has successfully led and participated in various facets of the programs over the years. Since 2018 Kennedy has been a Senior Environmental Scientist, Supervisor, within the Feed, SAFE, AUS, and Livestock Drugs Programs. Prior to that Kennedy was a Senior Environmental Scientist, Specialist, for the AUS program and was instrumental in the strategic planning of the regulated use side of the program and the development of the regulations pertaining to its authority.
Kennedy has been with CDFA since 2005 and is a graduate of UC Davis and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science and Management. Kennedy is dedicated to the continued success and growth of the feed team and its talented employees.
