The Commercial Feed Regulatory Program (CFRP) would like to introduce newly hired Tabatha Shannon; she is filling the feed inspector position in the Fresno area.
“I am grateful to be part of such a knowledgeable and dedicated team, where I continue to expand my expertise while contributing to the protection of California’s agricultural industries,” Tabatha said.
Tabatha graduated from California State University, Fresno, with a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science – Production Management, with an emphasis in Meat Science Technology. As a fifth-generation cattle rancher in the foothills of the Sequoia National Forest, she developed a deep appreciation for agriculture and the vital role it plays in producing safe, high-quality food. She has prior industry experience in food safety, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance. Prior to joining the CFRP team, Tabatha worked with CDFA as a Livestock Brand Inspector.

Two years.
2. What is your job title and what do you do?
Environmental Scientist – Help regulate and enforce state laws on the manufacturing, distribution, and labeling of livestock feed to ensure there is no adulterated feed entering the livestock food chain that can also affect the human food chain.
3. How do you work for the California food supply?
Help prevent any contaminants and unsafe additives from entering the food supply through animal feed.
4. What do you enjoy most about your job?
I enjoy collecting and submitting commodities and finished product samples for laboratory testing to verify compliance with quality, safety and regulatory requirements.
5. What is one thing you can’t live without?
Coffee. Coffee is life!
