The California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) Safe Animal Feed Education Program will be hosting a Blended Preventive Control Qualified Individual Training December 3-4, 2025, in Modesto, CA. Priority will be given to firms that currently do not have a Preventive Controls Qualified Individual. The training will be capped at 20 participants. Reservations can be made between 9/19/2025 and 10/3/2025. Please email safe@cdfa.ca.gov to reserve a spot for the course.
COURSE DESCRIPTION
The Current Good Manufacturing Practice, Hazard Analysis, and Risk-based Preventive Controls for Animal Food regulation (referred to as the Preventive Controls for Animal Food regulation) is intended to ensure safe manufacturing/processing, packing and holding of food products for animal consumption in the United States. The regulation requires that certain activities must be completed by a “preventive controls qualified individual” who has “successfully completed training in the development and application of risk-based preventive controls or is otherwise qualified through job experience to develop and apply a food safety system.” This course developed by the Food Safety Preventive Controls Alliance (FSPCA) is the “standardized curriculum” recognized by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA); successfully completing this course is one way to meet the requirements for a “preventive controls qualified individual.”
These courses are taught by Lead Instructors trained by the FSPCA, who have been instructed in how to teach the FDA-recognized standardized curriculum.
The Blended course consists of two parts. Part one is online, and Part two is an instructor-led, in-person training course. Both parts must be completed in order to obtain the certificate of training.
