Ted Bert has accepted a position as the new Senior Environmental Scientist-Supervisor for the Commercial Feed Regulatory Program (CFRP), Antimicrobial Use and Stewardship Program, and Livestock Drug Program effective July 1, 2025.

Bert graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, with a Bachelor of Science in Dairy Science and Ag Business. He has worked for CDFA for over 12 years, starting as a Field Inspector and most recently as the program’s Compliance Officer. Prior to joining CDFA, Bert was a professional bull rider, worked as herdsmen, owned his own cattle business, and worked in crop production and management for a large, multi-faceted farming operation in the Tulare area. Bert brings to his new role a wealth of knowledge and understanding of the California feed industry, animal health and husbandry, and agriculture in general.
Over the years, Bert has played an instrumental role in the development of CFRP’s compliance program and tonnage auditing program. In his Compliance Officer role, Bert ensured consistency throughout California on inspection and enforcement issues. He was a lead inspector, trainer, and auditor for the program for several years and helped the program develop California Food Safety Inspections based on the Food Safety Modernization Act, just to highlight a few of his accomplishments.
