<strong>Vitaceae<\/strong>: <em>Vitis<\/em> <em>vinifera<\/em><sup>1<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Worldwide Distribution<\/u>:<\/strong> Although it was first found in Sri Lanka, the native range of <em>Pseudaonidia trilobitiformis<\/em> is uncertain.\u00a0 From its origin it has spread through much of Africa, Asia, Australia, the Pacific, South America, and Central America<sup>1<\/sup>.\u00a0 In the continental United States the scale is known to be present in Florida<sup>1<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Official Control<\/u>:<\/strong> <em>Pseudaonidia trilobitiformis<\/em> is listed as a quarantine pest by Japan, the Republic of Korea, and New Zealand<sup>2<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>California Distribution<\/u>:<\/strong>\u00a0 <em>Pseudaonidia trilobitiformis<\/em> has never been found in the environment of California.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>California Interceptions<\/u>:\u00a0<\/strong> Between January 1, 2000 and December 31, 2014 <em>Pseudaonidia trilobitiformis<\/em> was intercepted by CDFA\u2019s dog teams, border stations, and high risk programs 139 times.\u00a0 These interceptions have occurred on a wide variety of commodities from Hawaii, Florida, Mexico, and many other countries in Central and South America.\u00a0 Many of the interceptions are on mango.<\/p>\n<p>The risk <em>Pseudaonidia trilobitiformis<\/em> (trilobe scale) would pose to California is evaluated below.<\/p>\n<h5><strong>Consequences of Introduction:\u00a0<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p><strong>1) <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Climate\/Host Interaction<\/span>:<\/strong> Host plants of <em>Pseudaonidia trilobitiformis<\/em> are grown throughout California as agricultural crops and ornamentals.\u00a0 The scale insect is likely to establish wherever these plants are grown.\u00a0 It receives a <span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>High (3)<\/strong><\/span> in this category.<\/p>\n<p>Evaluate if the pest would have suitable hosts and climate to establish in California.\u00a0 Score:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8211; <strong>Low (1)<\/strong> Not likely to establish in California; or likely to establish in very limited areas.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8211; <strong>Medium (2)<\/strong> may be able to establish in a larger but limited part of California.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\">&#8211;
