Here is an announcement from the International Plant Health Institute (IPNI) that may be of interest to CDFA FREP stakeholders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 4R Nutrient Stewardship Research Fund has released a request for pre-proposals to conduct field research and demonstration projects that evaluate and promote the economic, social, and environmental outcomes of 4R Nutrient Stewardship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4R Nutrient Stewardship is an evidence-based approach to fertilizer best management practices. This approach considers economic, social, and environmental dimensions of nutrient management and is essential to the sustainability of agricultural systems. The concept is simple: apply the right source of nutrients, at the right rate, the right time, and in the right place. However, the implementation of these practices is knowledge-intensive, site-specific, and is likely to change as new technologies become available and our understanding of nutrient management evolves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The fertilizer industry established the 4R Research Fund to help determine sustainability indicators and environmental impact data for implementation of 4R Nutrient Stewardship across North America. The fund drew its initial support from members of the IPNI, the Canadian Fertilizer Institute (CFI), and The Fertilizer Institute (TFI), and it now receives support from a growing list of agribusiness companies and stakeholder organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
