FREP\u2019s competitive grant program funds research and education to advance the efficient use of fertilizer materials and reduce environmental impacts associated with them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Two Requests for Proposals (RFPs) are being released for 2020:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The <strong>Regular RFP<\/strong> includes initiatives put forth by CDFA to help effectively manage agricultural fertilizers. <\/li><li>The <strong>Special RFP<\/strong> solicits research on nitrogen removal values for specific Central Coast crops for which there is no research basis for establishing nitrogen removal coefficients. <\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Regular RFP priorities include: demonstrating and\/or\nvalidating management practices that optimize nutrient and irrigation management,\naddressing barriers to adoption of management practices, technical education, filling\nknowledge gaps in nitrogen management for specific crops, research on the role\nof organic input materials in soil nutrient management, and understanding and\ninvestigating mitigation strategies for nitrogen losses. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Applicants are invited to submit proposals to FREP by Friday,\nJanuary 31, 2020. Two-page concept proposals are required for the Regular RFP.\nThe Special RFP requires 15-page full proposal submissions. Proposals should\nalign with at least one of the identified priority research areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Further information on both of the 2020 FREP Requests for Proposals, including timelines, application criteria, priority research areas, and examples of successful proposals are available&nbsp;on the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cdfa.ca.gov\/is\/ffldrs\/frep\/CompetitiveGrantProgram.html\">Grant Program web page<\/a> at: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cdfa.ca.gov\/is\/ffldrs\/frep\/CompetitiveGrantProgram.html\">www.cdfa.ca.gov\/is\/ffldrs\/frep\/CompetitiveGrantProgram.html<\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All proposals will be reviewed by peer reviewers and the\nFertilizer Inspection Advisory Board\u2019s Technical Advisory Subcommittee (TASC). For\nthe Regular RFP, concept proposals that are selected by the TASC will be\ninvited for development into full project proposals.
