Every fall, the California\nDepartment of Food and Agriculture\u2019s Fertilizer Research and Education Program<\/a>\n(FREP) and the Western\nPlant Health Association<\/a> (WPHA) host a nutrient management\nconference. The agenda focuses on the latest FREP-funded research results and\npractical applications of fertilizing materials for agricultural production in\nthe state of California.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On October 28-30, 2019, the FREP\/WPHA Conference will be held at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Fresno, California. The first day includes an off-site field tour of nearby farms, and the second and third days include presentations and workshops. More information about the field tour, speakers, continuing education units and registration will be available on the FREP blog, as well as the FREP and WPHA websites. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A poster session will be held on October 29, after the conference presentations. Posters must have scientific subject matter relevant to the efficient use of fertilizing materials in California conditions, such as climate, crops and soils. Posters should describe scientific projects that emphasize improved nutrient and irrigation management practices in California agriculture. Anyone, whether funded by FREP or other entities, may submit an abstract.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Call for Posters <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If you would like to present a poster at the 2019 FREP\/WPHA Conference,\nsubmit your abstract to FREP@cdfa.ca.gov<\/a> by October 21, 2019<\/strong>. Submissions\nmust include poster title, author names and affiliations, and an abstract that\nis no more than 350 words. One presenter per poster will receive free conference\nregistration. Submissions will be selected based on relevance and quality of\nabstracts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We encourage preparing the abstracts according to the American Society of Agronomy Tips for Writing Abstracts<\/a>. To learn more about poster preparation, evaluation criteria, time and location of the poster session, please see the Poster Guidelines<\/a>. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2019 FREP\/WPHA Conference Poster Competition<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This year, student poster presenters may enter competitions for two categories: undergraduate and graduate students. Posters will be evaluated by judges, and top presentations will receive awards. In both student categories, prizes include: 1st<\/sup> place, $200; 2nd<\/sup> place, $150; and 3rd<\/sup> place, $100.
