The Western Nutrient Management Conference is a 1.5 day meeting held virtually and in-person at the Whitney Peaks Hotel in Reno, Nevada. The conference provides an opportunity for researchers, extension, industry, agricultural professionals and educators to share new developments in agronomic and environmental nutrient management practices specific to the Western United States.
Conference agenda: The program includes 19 invited oral presentations by university and USDA ARS research scientists representing eight western states and one Canadian province. Session topics will cover a wide array of recent innovations in the areas of soil testing and interpretation, sulfur management, plant nutrition in western crops, combatting soil acidity and alkalinity, nitrogen cycling, and nitrogen fertilizer best management practices. In addition, there will be a poster session that includes findings from established western nutrient management scientists alongside undergraduate and graduate students showcasing their findings in a student poster presentation competition.
Livestream option: This is the first time the Western Nutrient Management Conference will be offering a livestream option in addition to in-person attendance. Virtual attendees will be able to participate fully in the oral presentation program and can ask presenters questions in tandem with the Reno audience.
CCA Credits: Nine nutrient management continuing education credits (CEUs) are available for certified crop advisors (CCAs) who attend the full conference either in-person or virtually. Half-day virtual conference attendees will be eligible to receive three nutrient management CCA CEUs.
