U.A.V Drone Field Meeting @ Bowles Farming

Are you interested in unmanned aerial vehicles (drones)? UC ANR will be partnering with Bowles Farming to present the 2nd annual UAV field meeting at Bowles Farming (11609 Hereford Road) in Los Banos. This meeting is free. Participants will learn about how UAVs can be used in agricultural operations and how to become licensed to fly a drone. There will be free demo flights by CSU Fresno, UC Merced, and Bowles Farming. Soil Science Society of America International Soils Meeting @ Sheraton San Diego Hotel & Marina

The International Soils Meeting is one of the few gatherings that brings together scientific leaders from industry, government agencies, and academic institutions in one unique environment.

Crop Estimation Tailgate

Estimating yield is both important and difficult. Accurate projections of crop size are necessary for both logistical and financial planning. Growers will share their experience and wisdom when it comes to estimating a crop including their methods, tips and techniques. Different methods will  be compared and discussed. We will also dip into the theory behind making estimates.

10:00am Jim McKay, CalTech Ag, Quantix Pilot/Rep- Overview of a currently available, light-weight, simple to fly UAV that collects multi-spectral images to determine vegetative health for use in determining pesticide applications and other inputs. Discussion and demonstration. 30 min.
