ITRC Drip/Micro Irrigation Design @ Irrigation Training and Research Center
Aug 15 – Aug 17 all-day

The Designer/Manager School is a comprehensive educational program offering a variety of classes designed for both agricultural and landscape irrigation professionals by Cal Poly San Luis Obispo’s Irrigation Training & Research Center.

Topics will include: filtration, step-by-step design procedure of hardware selection and hyraulics, drip/micro system design, SDI for trees and vines, plugging prevention. Features ITRC book Drip and Micro Irrigation for Trees, Vines, and Field Crops (4th Ed.) and software, Drip Hydraulics.

Organic Soil Fertility for Vegetables and Strawberries Short Course @ University of California Agricultural Center
Feb 12 @ 8:00 am – 4:00 pm

This short course will focus on the practical aspects of organic soil fertility management for fast-maturing leafy green vegetables and long-season strawberry production.

Topics will focus on the contribution of various sources of nitrogen for crop production, including mineralization from soil organic matter, release of inorganic nitrogen from organic fertilizers and composts, and the contribution of prior crop residues, cover crops, and irrigation water.

Growers, consultants, and those involved in organic soil fertility management will find this course valuable.

The field days will feature topics such as soil and water testing, tissue sampling, fertigation, orchard recycling, and management tools available to growers.
